SYNOPSISThe early exploration writing of Philip Sava bent the limits of post-modern fiction, revealing fantastical worlds that fooled many into believing they were, in fact, real. Sava’s kaleidoscopic collections, of which Memoirs of a Trespasser is the undeniable centerpiece, drew upon true experiences from his exotic travels but were infused with a hallucinatory inventiveness that set his work apart from others in the genre.

Though Sava had associates all over the world, he spent most of his time living in solitude on a ranch in southern Madagascar. When interrogated by the press on his cloistered lifestyle he notoriously answered, “Who needs love when there is still cognac in the glass?”

The vanilla is deep and smoky, not sugary at all—that guaiacwood keeps it grounded. I spritzed it on before a long flight and the scent lingered on my jacket for days, which honestly made unpacking feel less sad. It’s my new go-to for both wanderlust and winding down at home.

Every time I wear this I’m back on that dusty road trip, the guaiacwood grounding the sweet vanilla just right. It clings to my scarf for days, which is honestly the best part.

Adam ★★★★★

The Madagascar vanilla is so warm and smoky with that guaiacwood, it genuinely smells like a memory you can wear. I sprayed it before a long trip and now every time I put it on at home, it brings me right back to those evenings.
